Why Michael Faraday is my great inspiration

He was one of the most important scientists in history, he invented the first electric motor which produced a great change in the world since all the commerce, industries, technologies and transformations in the way we live have their beginning in that motor since before that invention existed, electricity was just a novelty toy without any practical application, but that success was not easy for him.

Faraday was born into a humble family and had to leave school at an early age due to the ridicule he received from his teachers and had to work binding books. He realized his dream of working at the Royal Institute of London which to this day is the cradle of science but he had to work on a manuscript based on the projects of Humphry Davy the then scientist and president of the Royal Institute of London to prove that he was good enough to work in the service of science since due to his humble origins Faraday was very poorly regarded by the scientists and society of the time.
His manuscript was successful and Humphry Davy hired him as his assistant but he never supported him with his desire to become a scientist and sometimes even made fun of him, but Faraday did not give up and kept going until he achieved all his goals.

Studying arts is very difficult, since it is not very appreciated in Chile unlike other countries, the employment rate is low and the salary too, as a child I was looked down upon by society in the field of arts, however, that did not discourage me, in fact, just like Faraday I was also discouraged, like Faraday I am also working on a manuscript that could secure me a position in the work team of my favorite artist Viviene Medrano (vivziepop), although it is very difficult to get a position and work making art together with Viviene Medrano I will finish my manuscript and if that does not secure me a position then I will keep insisting until I get to be part of the team.

Visual Arts help the world

Visual arts is not only a university career since prehistoric times until today the arts have made an impact on the world, it is true that many of the changes were for artistic techniques rather than society as the avant-garde (surrealism, impressionism, etc) that managed to break all the canons of the classical arts, however, they can also communicate the problems that exist in the world through art. Pop Art allowed to account for a time when society was consumed by advertising and the mass sale of objects, people were fascinated by advertisements that promote objects and felt the desperation to have such objects.

If pop art could show the reality of advertisements, as well as many other realities that could come to light thanks to art then I can say that I can do it too.

I am still a student of visual arts I still have a lot to learn, I will tell you a story of my life: For the drawing class I decided to work from the theme of body modifications my goal was to show the harsh reality behind a modification, women with rings on their necks are very famous in the world and every year thousands of tourists are eager to meet them it is said that the rings are used as a canon of beauty and that before it was to defend themselves from the attack of tigers.

Based on what I am narrating I made the drawing that is on the cover of this post the harsh reality is that it is a lie all that women wear rings for beauty, for defense etc., the truth is that they wear rings because tourists are their only way to have money to live because the government saw that the rings on the neck brought many people to the country and with that they had more money and then the government took away the citizenship of these women and forbade them to do any work the only work they are allowed is to exhibit their rings on the neck to tourists, sell their handicrafts and take pictures with them.

Many of those who saw my drawing did not know this reality so I achieved my goal of revealing the truth I feel I can help the world I can show society many of the problems that exist and thus to correct it.

A PHOTOGRAPH AND ITS STORY

Years ago I went on vacation to Iquique and the plane ride had left me very dizzy, when we arrived at the hotel I went to sleep because of the dizziness, however, my family decided to go for a walk on the beach and insisted that I accompany them especially because on that beach there were a lot of colored stones and I love stones, gems and minerals, I have a large collection and one of my hobbies is to go out to different places to collect them or I also like to buy them at fairs.

Since I felt so dizzy I decided to stay in the hotel to make the dizziness go away, but I admit that I felt bad for not going with my family to have fun at the beach, but I also knew that my family did not want my dizziness to get worse.

When my family left for the beach I went to bed and fell asleep for a few hours and when I woke up I felt much better and I was no longer dizzy. It was then that my mom came into my room and gave me some herbal tea and handed me a crumpled napkin when I opened it I realized that inside the napkin there were some different colored stones and a conch shell.

My mother told me that on the beach trip she and my family collected stones for me, I was speechless because of the emotion I felt but my tears of happiness and the huge hug I gave to all my family said it all.

I love Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter is a very popular product in the United States, I remember as a child I only saw it in cartoons, I always wanted to try it but back then Peanut Butter was not yet sold in Chile, I got to try it when I entered the University, I remember spreading it on a bread and when I tasted it I had to drink a lot of water because it was too dry and I couldn't get it down my throat, then I understood why the famous Peanut Butter Sandwich has to have Jam, because the Jam gives it moisture, but back then I didn't like Jam, so for a while I ate it spread on a spoon with a glass of milk but that changed when I tasted flavors of Jam that I liked and I started eating Peanut Butter and Jam Sandwiches.

Today I eat Peanut Butter in many ways, I even sometimes cook recipes with Peanut Butter such as Peanut Butter Cupcake, even though not all my family likes Peanut Butter.

I not only like it for its taste but also for its health benefits, it is true that you have to be moderate with its consumption since it has a lot of calories so 2 tablespoons a day is enough. Despite having calories Peanut Butter has no cholesterol and does not add cholesterol to the body, it has fat but it is good fat, the fat in Peanut Butter regulates cholesterol in the blood.

I recommend buying Organic or Artisanal Peanut Butter, not that the Peanut Butter sold in the supermarket are bad, but always be sure to read the labels and especially read the ingredients because there are Peanut Butters made with artificial ingredients that do not contribute to our body. Peanut Butter can also be made at home, just buy unsalted and unshelled Peanuts and grind them in a blender until it has a creamy consistency and keep it inside a glass jar.

My favorite piece of technology.

I just woke up,I get up and I'm looking at my tablet,I left it charging all night, the battery is at 100% which means it's time to use it.

My tablet is with me at all times until bedtime, I carry it with me everywhere.

Depending on the occasion one day I may be drawing another day I may be doing college homework another day playing video games another day watching videos etcetera, But what all those activities have in common is that I do them with my tablet.

It was the year 2020, my boyfriend came to see me and gave me a gift: A tablet. I take great care of the tablet, it is a gift from the love of my life.

I love digital art, as well as animations, playing video games, etc. and all that is inside my tablet, so if I want to do any of the above mentioned activities I just take my tablet and that's it.

Although I use my tablet 365 days a year, there are more important things in life, outside there is a world of fun that I want to enjoy with my family and my boyfriend.

I admit that it might be very difficult to do some activities if I didn't have my tablet, especially when it comes to digital art, but I prefer to see the smooth monkey live than through a screen.

Why did I choose my major?

Studying visual arts is a great experience, the world of art is bigger than we think, it is not just painting and drawing since creating a work of art needs more than just technique it requires extensive research as to the subject we wish to exhibit also along the way one can modify the final result just as it happened to me when I wanted to exhibit the drawing of a butterfly and in the end I ended up exhibiting the sculpture of a dog.

Mentioning this sculpture reminds me of when I was a child I was always painting doodles on    walls but I wanted to work in a clinic taking care of animals when I grew up. I liked art however I was determined to be a veterinarian but that decision changed when I started my studies in high school, that's when I realized that I felt happy when I created art even if it was school work, being a veterinarian had come to an end.

When I finished my high school studies it was difficult to find another study option besides arts. The only option I found was graphic design which was a safe option to fulfill but deep down I did not like it.

With a lot of effort and with the passing of the years I was able to make my dream come true I am studying to become an artist. The university is more difficult than I thought since there are a lot of new subjects, a lot of homework and new schedules but finally it is all part of the process of becoming an artist since creating art makes me happy and that is why despite the academic load I do with great joy all the tasks but I must admit I want the vacations to come soon.

Who i am ?

I am joaquina, I was born in San Bernardo but I have lived in maipo until today. Maipo is a town in the commune of Buin, is the second oldest place in Chile, being Santiago the first, is famous for its religious festivals, the most famous of all is The procession of the Virgin Mary, is celebrated every December 8 the statue of the virgin leaves the church and walks with the inhabitants throughout maipo, the virgin is carried by several people some of whom have more than 50 years fulfilling this work, my family and me love it to participate in all the festivities of Maipo.

I live in the house that belonged to my great grandfather, he was a very hardworking and loving man, together with my great grandmother founded a tavern near my current home which was very popular in Maipo, my father helped to carry bottles of wine to the tavern when he was a child, I could not meet my great grandfather, I have only seen him in pictures and also by the stories of my family.

My parents always saw me as a future artist, they always motivated me to study art, my father tells me to this day: "you will be a Picasso". My mother likes art, but she is not as fussy as my father when she looks at paintings, althought at first I wanted to be a veterinarian, but in the end I decided to study visual arts.

Studying Art is a beautiful experience, when you arrive you own ideas about art and it is incredible to discover for yourself that art is a much bigger field with infinite branches and posibilities.

I always carry my tablet with me wherever i go, I love digital art, my tablet is full of illustrations and animations, I have also participated in many drawing contests, but I also play video games on my tablet, I love to play video games I don't have a favorite genre of game, but the last ones I have played have been battle games.

I like to cook healthy food, I usually avoid eating fried food, I listen to Pop music and in winter I like to knit, but digital art will always be my favorite activity.
